Hello All
Hope your re-entry to the real world [higher hygiene standards, lower fun quotient, and much, much less running] was at the very least tolerable.
In this final update, which I'm attempting to keep as short as possible, you will find:
- thank yous
- results
- feedback on feedback
THANK YOUS
GAIA - I can't - and didn't - say enough about all the time, effort, and hard work that Nathan from Activesportz/GAIA put into this tournament. GAIA was the supplier of all vollie clothing (jerseys and hoodies), as well as all the great merchandise that was up for sale at the tourney. Many of the teams at the tournament looked hot and stayed cool in their brand new GAIA uniforms - including our Open winners, Chilly, who GAIA sponsors. So don't forget to think of GAIA first for all your merch and uniform needs - Mixed Nats is looming after all :)
TOC - once again, a big thank you to our Tournament Organising Commitee, who was made up of Mel G, Bart W, Cath M, Suse C, Owen S, Sascha H, Kelli M, Steve Campbell, and Ash Thornton. You guys were ace and put in so much work! Well done!
Vollies - I can't name them all (I will inevitably leave out someone important), but THANK YOU, and I want to make special mention again of our non-playing "TDs" Bart and Simon who worked their butts off to hold things together while Mel and I played, Paddy B who doesn't play ulti at all and came down all 4 days and put in a lot of great work, and the large number of Honey girls who stuck around and helped out every day when they didn't have to. And thank you to EVERYONE who helped make the tourney a big success.
La Tuf - the La Trobe uni ultimate club ran the canteen and put on the hot breakkie and the BBQ. Thanks so much to Tim Wise, Sarah Starbuck, and all their volunteers for doing a fantastic job!!

FEEDBACK ON FEEDBACK
The captains got to fill out a feedback form, and I'd like to address several themes that arose. I'd also like to invite anyone else to reply with feedback on the tournament to contact me.
Water
It was our priority in the planning and execution of the tournament to have LOTS of water EVERYWHERE. Our vollies worked really really hard to make this happen, and I profoundly apologize if anyone was without water at any time.
Quality of fields
Some of you loved them, some of you hated them. I think Victorians in general loved them, because they are the only green, soft ones in our drought-stricken state. I know patches got mushy due to Sunday's rain, and it's a shame if you had to play on those bits frequently.
Draw
I will be forwarding all feedback to the AFDA board and Jonathan Potts, who are the ones in charge putting it out. Please be aware the last minute nature of the draw was mostly due to an appeal process.
Pre-tournament communication
There WAS a lot of info at the last minute, and Igrrrrr... handbooks are so big. Be sure to download the handbook off the website if possible because the bios are HOT!
Food
We're really glad you liked it - great work Cath, Kell, Libby, and Fee!! And we're sorry about the unripe avos :)
Location of fields and party
Was expressed clearly and repeatedly from day 1. People who booked before the start of Feb (when the website went up) or didn't check, ended up with a longer trip to and from the city.
Party
I found out at about 10.45pm, after several Little Creatures and while wearing green facepaint and snakes in my hair, that the bar was due to close at 12 because of Anzac day, instead of 1am like we'd been told. Due to the incredible understanding and co-operation of the manager, Josh, we managed to keep the party going til close to 1. He risked losing his licence for "trading" after midnight (which he didn't do - no alcohol was sold), so a big thanks to him, and thanks to you for understanding (even if it sucked) and not "booing the Anzacs".
Thanks to all you players who came along and made this a blast!
Can't wait for mixed nats!
Nicky Smith,
Tournament Director

Lost Property
There was a fair bit of gear that was left at the fields during and after the tournament.
If you would like to get your favourite tee back, and not have to rescue it from Savers, then contact Mel Gangemi (m.gangemi@iinet.net.au).
